Martin Luther King Day -- Digging Deeper

It is not only important to remember and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, but to engage with what he preached, and how what he preached continues to speak to us today.

I encourage you to get beyond the catchphrases (as powerful as they may be) and listen to some of his speeches/sermons.

On the subject of war, which has caused more devastation for more people in more parts of the world than any other, please listen to King's famous speech against the Vietnam War. (You will need to have RealPlayer)

Wars have been one of the primary disabling forces since civilization began.

His speech can provide us guidance in responding morally to our own wars, whether waged directly, as in Afghanistan and Iraq, or indirectly through our military client, Israel, in Gaza and throughout Palestine.
